Living the Dream in my Pj’s!

As a little girl I spent hours copying from beautiful picture books trying to capture the magic from their illustrations in my own drawings. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to draw and paint. I had no idea what an illustrator was but I knew I wanted to create pictures in books.

And here I am now… Living the dream job I always wanted. I love to curl up on my sofa in my pyjamas and doodle little ideas in my sketchbook and then bring my imaginings to life; painting little fairies, princesses, cute animals and other wonderful creatures.

I graduated with a BA in Graphic Design and used my skills and knowledge and went into teaching and illustrating in my spare time. As I became more successful as a part time illustrator I decided to take the nerve wracking leap into becoming a full time freelance illustrator and I’m loving every minute of it!!!

I have illustrated several books and co-written one called “Oscar” My long term ambition is to become an author/illustrator and with loads of ideas buzzing around my head I will be putting this wish into practice very soon.

I am proud to have illustrated “The Three Little Pigs” and “The Elves and The Shoemaker” for Ladybird Books as I clearly remember copying from Vera Southgate’s watercolours as a child. Who would have thought all them years ago I would be part of their fairytale history.

I enjoy working alongside authors and art directors and publishers creating and developing magical worlds together.

As well as illustrating books I have been working for magazines, greetings card companies and advertising agencies and have recently been developing new ideas to create interactive ebooks and apps.
